I'm a big fan of vinegar for cleaning - but some of these tips I hadn't even seen before. Thought you might find them useful!

Limescale - a problem we all have and here in the Thames Valley where I'm based - we have LOTS of it! Limescale cleaning products are very good but you do have to be careful not to leave some of them on too long when using them on metal e.g taps, as the product can 'pit' the metal. The absolute best product I have found to deal with limescale is the very ordinary White Vinegar. Not only does it bring excellent results but it's also much cheaper than most, if not all, of the products you can buy to remove limescale. With a glass shower door I simply soak the limescale with white vinegar and leave overnight. By morning there is no limescale left and the smell of vinegar has also gone! If your limescale is thick then you may need a few applications. I have also left the metal showerhead soaking in white vinegar overnight have found it to be equally good at removing the limescale - and with no detrimental effects to the metal. Definitely worth anyone trying it if you have a limescale problem!

Cleaning Windows has got to be one of most people's least favourite jobs. It was mine! I'd tried everything lemon, vinegar, practically every window cleaning product on the market, polishing it off with a broadsheet newspaper as opposed to a tabloid (!) - and nothing worked. I always had smears on the windows! Then I somehow stumbled into the e-cloth - brilliant product! Only uses water from the tap, really easy and quick to use and no smears. Available from John Lewis/Waitrose, Ebay and Amazon - - and I'm sure lots of other places too. At about £5 per cloth it did seem expensive at first - but when you consider that you will never buy a cleaning product to put on your windows again and that the e-cloth lasts for about 200 cleans (mine are still going after 5 years) - then all of a sudden it looks like a really good deal. Make sure you get the right one - the e-cloth - in my experience not all micro-fibre cloths are the same!!

TIP: Granite surfaces - you can buy granite polish and it works, however a silicone based polish also works really well. Silicone based polishes are terrible for natural wood, but they are generally excellent for ceramic or polished stone surfaces. It's certainly worth having a can in the armoury, alongside a good quality beeswax polish.
